JT’s Café reopens for takeout in Blue Point

|

The landmark JT’s Cafe on Montauk Highway in Blue Point is reopening Friday for breakfast and lunch, owner Justin Tempelman tells us.

The hours will then be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

Delivery options through third-party services are currently in the works, but for takeout people can simply call 631-363-9562.

Also, his Blue Point staple JT’s on the Bay at the marina, is slated to open for takeout the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, May 22. Check back for details.

“We just want to be there for the community,” said Tempelman who also lives in Blue Point. “People have been texting us. They want to support us and we want to be there for them. We want to feed them.”

He said the reopening of JT’s Café, which has been closed since mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic and state-imposed dining restrictions, will serve as a sort of beta test for his other restaurants.

“We’ll iron out all the kinks,” he said.

If all goes well, he’ll be looking to reopen JT’s Farmhouse, which opened in Bayport this past winter and had been packed steadily ever since.

The Farmhouse also closed in March.

“We’re going to open everything up slowly,” he said.
