July 6 is the summer’s first Alive After Five; here’s what to know

|

Thursday, July 6, will mark the season’s first of four Alive After Five street festivals in Patchogue Village.

Here are some things to know before you go:

• The festival is run by the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, which has taken much efforts to alleviate parking issues and congestion by offering free shuttle services.

The shuttles will be running from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. from St. Joseph’s College and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Patchogue. Click here for full details.

• Each festival runs from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., though live music and the serving of alcohol in the outdoor corrals will be cut off at 9 p.m.

• The festival is held along Main Street from West Avenue to near Rider Avenue, as well as portions of South Ocean and Railroad avenues.

• If any one festival were to be called off because of rain, the make-up date is Aug. 24.

• Each AA5 installment has a theme, and this season’s first festival will be focused on sustainability and the environment, so look for special vendors and informational booths.

• Every corral for those drinking alcohol will have recycling bins for people to toss out their plastic Solo-style cups.

Volunteer Patchogue Waste Warriors will then be picking up the bags of plastic and taking them bring them to the lawn of the Congregational Church of Patchogue at 95 East Main Street. Patchogue Village will then transport the plastic to be recycled.

Waste Warrior volunteers are needed. They are asked to report to the church, located next to Patchogue Theatre for Performing Arts, at 6 p.m. or whenever they can get there.

• The area to be for kids is around the Capital One Plaza, a block west of Rider Avenue, where there are bounce houses, slides, children’s music and activities provided by Patchogue-Medford Library.

• The other Alive After Five dates are July 20, Aug. 3, and Aug 17.

(Again, rain date Aug. 24.)
