Kiyan Anthony has made his decision.

Kiyan Anthony, son of New York Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony, currently stars at Long Island Lutheran High School and is set to follow in his father’s footsteps by playing at Syracuse University next year.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard announced his decision on Friday night during his father’s podcast, “7PM in Brooklyn,” with his mother, La La Anthony, also joining the conversation.

Carmelo Anthony famously led Syracuse to an NCAA National Championship in 2003.

“This was a real, genuine decision,” Carmelo said of Kiyan’s commitment. “It was about understanding every aspect of what’s there, what can happen, and what could be.”

More from Kiyan’s parents:

Kiyan revealed that his other top choice was USC. He admitted on the podcast that he came close to committing after an official visit, citing the excellent campus life, coaching staff, and facilities.

Ultimately, he chose to stay closer to home, just a 45-minute flight from his family.

“Just looking at Syracuse and seeing what can be done there,” Kiyan said about his choice. “They already have top players coming in who I’m close with and a young coaching staff I can connect with.”

Heading into his senior season, the 17-year-old prospect has impressed his team and coach.

“Kiyan has been a joy to coach,” LuHi head coach John Buck told Greater Long Island just prior to Kiyan’s announcement. “He is hard working, eager to learn, and has developed into a strong leader here at LuHi. His gift for scoring the ball is undeniable, yet he has shown great improvement on the defensive end of the floor as well. I’m proud of his growth and know that his best basketball is still in front of him!”

Kiyan is recognized as one of the nation’s top high school players. According to 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 1 recruit in New York for the Class of 2025 and the No. 6 shooting guard nationally.

A native of Middle Village, Kiyan transferred in 2023 from Christ the King High School in Queens to Long Island Lutheran.

“I feel like I did make the right decision and I am happy where I’m at right now,” Kiyan told MaxPreps last season. Watch his highlight tape below.
