A unique sushi experience has arrived to the old California Pizza Kitchen space at Smith Haven Mall.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is now open for lunch and dinner at 618 Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, where CPK operated for over a decade before closing in December.
Founded in 1977, Kura Sushi currently operates over 500 restaurants across Japan, Taiwan, and the U.S. Lake Grove marks the company’s second Long Island location and fourth in New York, joining spots in Carle Place, Flushing, and Scarsdale.
The Carle Place location opened a year ago last July at Country Glen Shopping Center.
“Our brand has seen huge success in the Northeast, and we are thrilled to open our first New York restaurant in Carle Place at Country Glen Shopping Center on July 17,” said Robert Kluger, Chief Development Officer at Kura Sushi USA, when the Carle Place location opened.
The new Smith Haven location measures 3,000 square feet, featuring 20 booths and eight counter seats.

So, what makes it unique to the area?
Kura Sushi features a revolving sushi bar that allows patrons to pick their sushi off a conveyor belt constantly moving past each table. Patrons can also place custom orders directly from their seats using a tablet. Beverages are delivered by Kur-B, the KuraBot, a delivery robot. Watch this Reel to see for yourself.
“All of the above is exciting, but the best part of the dining experience is the food, which is high quality and affordably priced,” said Kluger. “We offer a wide menu of more than 140 authentic Japanese dishes, including a variety of sushi, noodles, sides, and desserts, all free of artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives, and colorings.
All sushi plates are $3.95 a dish, other meals offer different pricing. The grand opening is being celebrated from Monday through Wednesday. Here’s an instagram post with additional details:
