Lakeview Cemeteries hosting spring clean-up weekend

|

Friends of Lakeview Cemeteries are looking for volunteers to help clean up Patchogue’s historic graveyard.

The group is hosting a work weekend March 27 and March 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Lakeview Cemeteries located on West Main Street in Patchogue Village.

Volunteers are asked to bring their own gardening tools if possible and take part in spring cleanup tasks, such as removing litter and raking leaves.

Friends of Lakeview Cemeteries is a volunteer committee of the Greater Patchogue Foundation that works to restore, improve, and preserve the five historic cemeteries and create a park-like atmosphere for the Patchogue community to enjoy.

These cemeteries on West Main Street contain graves that date all the way back to the 1700s.

Those who visit the grounds can also find gravestones of local citizens and veterans from the Revolutionary to Vietnam wars.
