Lawrence man accused of attempted murder in crossbow attack on his older sister.

A 21-year-old Lawrence who had plotted since Christmas to kill his sister tried to carry out the plan by firing a crossbow at her inside their West Avenue garage, authorities said.

Samy Sedhom pleaded not guilty Sunday in Nassau County First District Court to second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and first-degree stalking. He remains in jail and was given no bail opportunities.

Cops said officers responded to the home at 9:23 p.m. on Friday and found Sedhom’s 28-year-old sister bleeding from a laceration to the right side of her face. She was treated at a local hospital.

ABC7 New York reported that the woman, police said, had just returned home from the gym and pulled into the home’s attached garage. The woman saw Sedhom sitting in a parked car across the street.

Detectives said the siblings exited their vehicles, and as the woman attempted to enter the code to close the garage door, she felt a sharp pain on the right side of her face, ABC7 New York reported. She began bleeding and called 911.

Crossbow used in attack

The station reported further that investigators said an arrow was found lodged in the back wall of the garage and that following a search of Sedhom’s bedroom, police recovered a box for a crossbow, a katana-style sword and a MacBook computer.

Prosecutors said in court that Sedhom admitted to shooting the arrow and intended to kill his sister, alleging he had been planning the attack since Christmas, according to the ABC 7 report.
