Lidl sets opening date for its East Patchogue location

|

The next round of Lidl supermarkets to open on Long Island has been announced.

The German-based discount grocer said its locations in East Meadow will open on July 29, while, locally, the East Patchogue store at 655 Montauk Highway will swing its doors open on Aug. 5.

The grocer bought out Best Market chain in November 2016. The island’s first two Lidl locations opened this past December in West Babylon and Center Moriches.

The two new food markets will hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies at 7:40 a.m. on its respective opening dates.

The weekend before each grand opening, there will be a farmer’s market pop-up in each store’s parking lot.

Here are some words from local politicians on the new opening in East Patchogue:

“I am excited to welcome Lidl to East Patchogue,” said Suffolk County Legislature’s presiding officer, Rob Calarco, “They have shown themselves to be a company that cares for their community by offering affordable and competitive prices for their products. I wish them great success as they provide excellent service to our residents.”

New York State Assemblyman Joe DeStefano: “I’d like to be the first to welcome Lidl to East Patchogue. Having additional grocery options in our community will better serve residents and help keep prices down.”
