Long Island’s largest non-bank lender opens new national HQ in Melville

|

Nationwide Mortgage Bankers, which is Long Island’s largest non-bank lender, has opened its new national headquarters in Melville — a move company officials say brings more than 100 jobs to the site with plans for additional hiring.

Nationwide, previously headquartered at 3 Huntington Quadrangle in Melville, unveiled its new roughly 30,000-square-foot office at 1305 Walt Whitman Road on March 23 alongside Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, Suffolk County Police Chief of Department William Doherty and other local leaders, according to an announcement.

For those unfamiliar with Nationwide Mortgage Bankers, founder and chairman Richard Steinberg said the company’s mission centers on helping people achieve homeownership — which he described as one of the most important ways Americans build wealth.

It’s also one of the Top 5 lenders in the state, according to the company.

Blakeman, for his part, said businesses that create jobs and support the housing market help strengthen the local economy.

Nationwide Mortgage Bankers is also the parent company of Americasa, First Veterans Mortgage and Lending to Heroes, which provide lending programs geared toward groups including Hispanic families, veterans, military members, first responders, healthcare workers, educators and municipal employees, according to the release.

The new headquarters will serve as a hub for training and collaboration, featuring a digital media studio, podcast streaming center and a 65-seat training facility for real estate and mortgage professionals, the company said.

The space was designed to support business partners and consumer education efforts, Nationwide officials said. Its also much larger than the HQ, which will allow for expansion.
