Lucia’s hits the road with a new food truck in Eastport

|

Melvin Recinos, the chef and entrepreneur behind Lucia in Middle Island and Mattituck, is taking his flavors on the road.

Earlier this month, he launched Lucia’s Food Truck, now parked at Hampton Watercraft & Marine in Eastport.

The truck is open daily — closed Wednesdays — and features a summer-inspired menu that includes lobster nachos, lobster rolls, grilled octopus, coconut fried shrimp, Cuban sandwich and more. Cocktails like margaritas and spiked fruit punch are also available.

Recinos opened his Middle Island restaurant in 2021, naming it after his grandmother, who taught him how to cook. It was his second location, following the success of his original spot in Mattituck.

“That’s the way we eat it at my grandma’s house,” Recinos, of Cutchogue, told Greater Long Island back in 2021.

He and his wife, Anita Alampioska, found the Middle Island space — formerly home to the Cook Room — while out searching for tacos one afternoon. After a quick renovation with help from family and friends, the couple opened that summer and were met with a packed house just hours into their first day. [Click here to read more.]

Now with the food truck, Recinos is expanding his reach, bringing his Salvadorian-inspired dishes to a new community — while continuing the legacy that began in his grandmother’s kitchen.
