Here we go again! From Broadway to Babylon Village, The Argyle Theatre presents the popular musical “Mamma Mia!,” the third show of the theatre’s 2021-2022 season.
Following “Elf The Musical” and the world premiere of “Punk Rock Girl!,” the opening night of “Mamma Mia!” is set for March 17 at 7:30 p.m. Performances will run until May 1.
“Like the other shows in our season, it’s been a long time coming and had been on our slate since early 2020,” said Dylan Perlman, co-owner and managing partner of Argyle. “It’s one of the most popular and lovable musicals out there, a total smash-hit on Broadway, and it’s just fun.”
“Mamma Mia!” the musical is written by Catherine Johnson, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.
Directed and choreographed by Antoinette DiPietropolo with musical direction by Jonathan Brenner, “Mamma Mia!” is set on a vibrant Greek island and follows a bride-to-be on her quest to find her birth father after she invites three men from her mother’s past to her wedding.
During her journey of discovery, love and friendship, the story is carried by ABBA songs that will have audience members dancing in their seats.
“I think coming out of this period of craziness and this pandemic, I think it’s a show we all need right now,” Perlman said. “We are looking forward to getting this one on its feet.”
