Mathnasium tutoring and learning center opens in Babylon Village

|

Math isn’t everyone’s favorite subject in school, but that doesn’t mean it has to be the hardest.

To help, a Mathnasium math tutoring and learning center has opened in Babylon Village this summer.

And local families have already been responding.

“My kids love coming to Mathnasium!” write a Facebook user named Mary Travers in a review.”I’m very happy we found this place; just in the nick of time! Staff is great! Highly recommend.”

Anant Patel, 37, the owner and center director of the Babylon franchise location, said it’s a pleasure to help kids from grades 1 through 12 gain a better understanding for math.

“I have always been big on education,” said Patel, whose wife is an English teacher in Flushing, Queens. “It is really important to me.”

Patel said his approach is all about customizing lessons to each child’s learning needs.

Mathnasium’s staff of teachers, aspiring teachers, and college grads with math backgrounds all work together to create individualized programs.

At the initial meeting, students go through an assessment, where instructors create a work binder to help “fill in the gaps” of what the student might need help with.

“It is very comprehensive,” said Patel. “We want to know what they are learning from school.”

The location at 80 West Main Street in the heart of the village has been drawing children from around the area, from Deer Park to Lindenhurst and Bay Shore.

“I have students that come from all over,” he said.
