McDonald's coming to Sill Raod

A new McDonald’s is coming to Sills Road in Medford after the Brookhaven’s town board granted final site plan approval for the project.

Land has been cleared at the site, which sits directly across from Sunshine Square, a high-traffic shopping center anchored by Stop & Shop. The new restaurant will sit at the mouth of a commercial pocket that includes Pickleball Heaven, the new 60,000-square-foot indoor pickleball complex that opened last fall on National Boulevard.

Hauppauge-based land use and zoning firm Certilman Balin guided the project through the approval process. It was conditionally approved by the town last August, then fully approved in February.

“Our team obtained final site plan approval from the Town of Brookhaven Planning Board for the development of a new McDonald’s restaurant on Sills Road in Medford,” the firm said in a statement. “We are proud to continue guiding projects through the land use and zoning process from start to finish.”

Pickleball Heaven, which celebrated its grand opening in September, features 16 courts, a sports bar and a 60-foot bar and kitchen serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Co-owners Don Rickey and Anthony Adler have described the venue as the “pickleball version of Topgolf.”

An opening date for the McDonald’s has not been announced.
