A two-car crash on the Meadowbrook State Parkway early Sunday left one person seriously injured after they were ejected from a vehicle, state police said in a report.

Officers responded at 2:48 a.m. to the crash in the northbound lanes near Exit M5, News 12 Long Island reported. The motorist ejected from a vehicle during the impact was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The person’s name was not immediately released.

The crash forced the closure of all northbound lanes of the Meadowbrook State Parkway between the Southern State Parkway and Hempstead Turnpike while police investigated the circumstances and cleared the roadway.

The lanes remained closed for several hours, according to the state’s 511-NY traffic alert system. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
