Middle Island man nabbed after Port Jefferson street takeover

|

Police have arrested one of the drivers who tore up a Port Jefferson intersection with donuts and burnouts during a street takeover incident last month.

Police said two vehicles were seen stunts at the intersection of West Broadway and Main Street about 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 26 before fleeing the area.

Following an investigation by the Sixth Precinct Investigative Unit and the Street Takeover Task Force, 20-year-old Adam Tuzza was identified as one of the drivers, police said.

Cops located Tuzza in his 2010 Ford Crown Victoria on Nesconset Highway in Terryville and took him into custody about 9:25 p.m. on Sept. 14, police said.

Tuzza of Middle Island was charged with unlawful speed contest/side show and reckless endangerment. His vehicle was seized. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Suffolk’s First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
