A new cafe in downtown Huntington is putting a fresh spin on a classic comfort food.
Mighty Fine Eatery & Pie Bar opened its doors this week at 43 Green St., taking over the former Finley’s of Greene Street space with an all-day concept that blends café fare, cocktails and — most notably — a build-your-own pie experience.
At the center of it all is the café’s “create your own pie” bar, where customers can start with a prepaid crust and customize their filling from a wide selection of sweet and savory options.
Once assembled, each pie is sent to the kitchen and baked fresh on site, with a turnaround time of just under an hour for dine-in or takeout.
Owner Daria Lamb said the idea is to offer something interactive and personal — a departure from the traditional bakery model.
Beyond the signature pies, Mighty Fine serves a full menu of sandwiches, salads and roast chicken, along with baked goods like cookies and loaf cakes.
A full bar — with indoor and outdoor service — is also part of the mix, featuring wine and cocktails. The outdoor bar is expected to open by Mother’s Day weekend.
The space itself has been fully renovated, with a variety of seating options throughout the historic building.
Inside, tables, couches and booths surround the pie bar and ordering area, while outside, a large deck offers additional seating, a bar and room for children to play in both the front and back.
Mighty Fine is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A second location is also in the works in downtown Bay Shore and is expected to open later this year, Lamb previously said.
