Middle Island teen seriously injured in Miller Place motorcycle crash

A Middle Island teen was seriously injured Tuesday night after his motorcycle crashed with a vehicle trying to make a U-turn in Miller Place, police said.

The crash happened about 7:46 p.m. along Miller Place-Yaphank Road near Jonah Road in Miller Place.

Suffolk Police Sixth Squad detectives said a 23-year-old Miller Place woman was driving a 2019 Nissan Kicks north on Miller Place-Yaphank Road when she attempted to make a U-turn. As she turned, the vehicle collided with a southbound 2004 Suzuki motorcycle.

The motorcycle rider, Riley Ahearn, 18, of Middle Island, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said. The woman driving the Nissan was not injured.
