MosquitoNix Elves bring holiday magic & goodwill to Long Island homes

A new kind of mosquito, tick, and outdoor pest control company landed on Long Island this year.

Powered by the Dotzman family of Massapequa, MosquitoNix Long Island hit the pavement this spring, bringing its proprietary outdoor automated misting systems for mosquito, tick (and more) control to homes across Nassau and Suffolk counties. (You even get an app to blast those pests yourself.)

But now that the temperatures have dropped — and the mosquitoes are in diapause — the crews have traded their trademark yellow golf shirts for Holiday sweaters.

And maybe a Santa hat or two.

Meet the MosquitoNix Elves, who are transforming homes and businesses across Long Island into little winter wonderlands sure to wow your kids and neighbors. (Isn’t that what it’s all about?)

“Installing and managing the MosquitoNix misting systems actually translates seamlessly into doing the same for Holiday lights,” said Eric Mattocks, the company’s service manager. “Once you’re trained on the systems, it’s easy to shift into the holidays.”

To celebrate its first — and already busy — season, the MosquitoNix Elves donated their time, lights and equipment to brighten the holidays for two Long Island families with children who have special needs. The company partnered with Making Authentic Friendships, a local charity, for the giveaway, as giving back is a guiding principle for the owners.

(The MAF app helps kids and young adults with special needs find friends with mutual interests.)

The plan was to choose one family. But the Dotzmans couldn’t decide on one. So they went with two incredibly deserving families.

“Seeing the joy on the childrens’ faces when they saw the lights, is what it is all about,” Mattocks said.
