Name revealed for Old Field owner’s new Italian restaurant in Stony Brook

|

It’s official, the new restaurant by Old Fields restaurateur David Tunney replacing Pentimento in Stony Brook Village Center has a name: Luca.

“It’s gonna be hot,” predicted Tunney in a conversation with GreaterPortJeff about the new spot.

Head chef Luke DeSanctis is building a menu far different from any of the other restaurants Tunney is currently operating with a modern Italian flair and promising that a majority of the ingredients will be made from scratch with everything else coming from the best possible sources.

“That’s the level of love we have,” Tunney said.

The team has been working hard at transforming 93 Main Street into Luca.

The renovation will be top to bottom but as in almost every other industry, a pandemic backlog is causing some logistical problems with equipment delivery. Tunney still says they are on target to open by the end of June or early July.

They are furiously finishing the build-out and expect to start cooking soon. For now, the menu is still under wraps. The name of the game for Tunney and his crew is quality.

“We are only concerned with making it a great experience,” he said.

With a no holds barred approach to the look and feel — they plan to seat 80 inside with room for an additional 30 or so outside — Tunney explained that the menu is where they will shine.

“You will keep coming back for the food,” he said.
