The GoFundMe fundraiser for the family of fallen Nassau Police Officer Sean Ledwith has climbed past $229,000.
The campaign was created to help cover funeral costs for the Malverne family and provide financial support for Ledwith’s wife and four children following his death in early January.
A 12-year veteran of the Nassau County Police Department, Ledwith, 45, served in the department’s Bureau of Special Operations, one of its most demanding units. He was also a decorated U.S. Marine, completing multiple overseas deployments, including tours in Iraq and Kosovo.
Ledwith died in his sleep on Sunday, Jan. 11.
Since the fundraising campaign launched, donations have continued to rise steadily as colleagues, community members, and others from across Long Island and beyond contributed to support the family. The GoFundMe page remains active for those wishing to help.
Tributes from law enforcement agencies highlighted Ledwith’s dedication to public service and his commitment to his family, describing him as a respected officer, Marine, husband and father.
