Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced in a briefing on Saturday the arrival of new COVID-19 testing sites in Wyandanch and North Amityville.
Bellone has been strategically opening locations in “hotspots” across Long Island, which are mostly African-American and Hispanic neighborhoods.
Out of the 3,581 cases in Babylon Town on Tuesday, 458 people infected were from Amityville (111) and Wyandanch (347). According to news site Shades of Long Island, Wyandanch is 59.5% African American and 34.1% Hispanic, while North Amityville is 55.6% African American and 34.8% Hispanic.
HRHcare, which runs the testing clinics, plans to open its new locations this Thursday. They can be found at 1080 Sunrise Highway in Amityville and 1556 Straight Path in Wyandanch.
The drive-up sites will then run Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tests are by appointments only. For more information call 1-844-474-2273.
