New restaurant Birdie Bar takes flight in Northport

|

Attention foodies and golf enthusiasts, Birdie Bar has officially opened its doors in Northport.

Louis Selvaggio Jr., known for his family-owned Robke’s restaurant, has branched out to create his own venture just a short walk away from the popular Italian restaurant. He had a grand opening at 688 Fort Salonga Road on April 24.

While Selvaggio plans to split his time between both establishments, he’s excited to bring something new and unique to the Northport community.

Birdie Bar’s decor will showcase a golf vibe, paying homage to Selvaggio’s pro-golf brother, Paul Selvaggio. But don’t let the name fool you, Birdie Bar’s menu will not be pigeon-holed into a single cuisine category.

“It’s kind of just a place me and my friends would want to go eat and drink at,” Selvaggio said. “It’s going to have a little bit of an American steakhouse vibe, but we’re not a steakhouse. There’s going to be a lot of meat and fish, a lot of specials, a lot of fresh local stuff, homemade desserts.”

The Selvaggio family is no stranger to catering to celebrity clientele, with Robke’s attracting stars like Kevin James and Theresa Caputo, as well as pro athletes like Daryl Strawberry and Nate Archibald. Selvaggio is optimistic that Birdie Bar will also draw in a diverse crowd.

“I would imagine the majority of people that come to Robke’s are definitely going to check it out,” he said. “Who knows who some of these customers might bring in there, or who might swing by. You never know. We’re looking to get a lot of people in there.”
