New Ruschmeyer’s Hotel management in Montauk unveils Placēbō restaurant

|

The famed Ruschmeyer’s Hotel in Montauk has just announced a new management group, and a brand-new restaurant for summer.

Welcome to Placēbō, which offers a fusion of Puerto Rican and New American cuisine.

As part of it all, you’ll also find Don Jaguar, which the Ruschmeyer’s Hotel website describes as “an exclusive speakeasy lounge accessible only by invitation or reservations.”

The hotel grounds and guest rooms have also gotten a refresh, the group announced.

“We’re thrilled to infuse Ruschmeyer’s experience with our signature blend of Montauk charm and NYC-style hospitality,” says Nathan Leong, who along with Sameer Quereshi lead the hospitality group El Grupo SN, which just took over management at Ruschmeyer’s. “This season marks a fresh start, and Placēbō is just the beginning. Guests can expect a reimagined Ruschmeyer’s experience with exciting new concepts to be revealed.”

The group is known in New York for, among other concepts, their 9 Jones and Somewhere Nowhere — a lounge, nightclub and rooftop pool on the West Side.

This is the first hotel in its portfolio, and one that has a storied history dating to a 1950s summer camp that later morphed into a celebrity-laden hot spot.

Placēbō opened on Thursday, May 23, for Memorial Day weekend with food and decor inspired by Leong’s Puerto Rican heritage, from Taíno to the El Yunque National Forest, a press announcement reads.

It’s nearly 5,000 square feet. The adjoining lounge is decked out in leopard-accented decor.

Reservations are recommended and available on OpenTable. Click here for more photos from El Grupo.
