Breeze Airways continues to add more flights at Long Island MacArthur Airport.
Breeze Airways, a 3-year-old airline started by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, announced on Wednesday the addition of a non-stop roundtrip service to Sarasota, Fla., from Long Island, starting Nov. 21.
The service to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, according to an announcement from the airline.
“Long Island MacArthur Airport customers have long-been communicating their desire for Sarasota service to the Town and airport, and – in turn – we’ve been reaching out to airlines to evaluate the market’s potential at ISP,” said Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “Breeze has been listening and their ‘Seriously Nice’ response will benefit Nassau and Suffolk counties in so many ways.”

This new comes a few weeks after the airline announced it will be doubling its service to Vero Beach, Fla., from ISP.
Breeze received its carrier certification from the U.S. Department of Transportation on May 14, 2021, and in December of that year began offering flights at MacArthur Airport.
Now, in three years, Breeze currently offers flights from the Island to Charleston, S.C.; Norfolk, Va; Vero Beach, Fla.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Portland, Maine; Jacksonville, Fla.; and New Orleans. The company will also begin offering flights from ISP to Fort Myers, Fla., starting on Oct. 2.
The Islip Town-operated airport has caught the attention of other airlines recently, with JetBlue signing on to offer service there starting this fall. Come October, JetBlue will operate daily service between ISP and Orlando (MCO), and four times weekly between ISP and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Palm Beach (PBI), offering both direct and indirect flights.
“This airport is run like a business and airlines are taking notice,” said Long Island Contractors Association Executive Director Marc Herbst. “Airports across the country are competing for new air service. On Long Island, we’re so grateful to have elected officials, business leaders, and a community that is supportive of efforts to build a future with prosperity and jobs in this region,” he said.
