Notable indie bookstore in Huntington to close after four decades

Book Revue, a Huntington Village staple and a favorite for Long Island readers, is closing at the end of September.

According to a News 12 report, owner Richard Klein confirmed he is being evicted by his landlord after not being able to pay rent on time due to pandemic struggles.

Klein says his bookstore must close its doors by Sept. 30.

“The outpouring of community support has been overwhelming,” reads a Facebook post from Book Revue. “We want to thank all of you who have expressed your feelings about the store and its importance to the community.”

Founded in 1977, the independently-owned bookstore has become a cultural and social center in the community, where book lovers can browse a variety of genres, explores different stories, and discuss their favorite books with others.
