NWS: Suffolk County could see up to 16 inches of snow accumulation

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Suffolk and Nassau counties, as well as New York City.

For Long Island, the watch starts tonight at midnight through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, with an accumulation of 6 to 16 inches possible.

Blizzard-like conditions are possible for Monday, from the morning into the evening. NWS says winds could gust gusting as high as 50 mph.

Travel is expected to be hazardous or impossible due to low visibility for tomorrow morning and evening commutes.

For New York City, the storm watch starts at 7 p.m. this evening and runs through Tuesday morning. According to the NWS, NYC could see between 14-18 inches of accumulation, with winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
