Update: Outdoor street dining Thursdays to start Sept. 10, not Sept. 3, in Patchogue

|

update (Sept. 3):

Due to miscommunications between Patchogue Village officials and local business leaders, the first Thursday night outdoor street dining experience in Patchogue will not happen Sept. 3, as previously reported.

The first Dine ‘Til Nine Thursdays runs from 6 – 9 p.m. on Sept. 10.

“We’re looking forward to next Thursday,” said Peter Sarich, the village’s senior building inspector. “Then every Thursday after that.”

The Sundays in the Streets outdoor dining will still happen this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays in the Street has been going on all summer.

original post (Sept. 2):

Another day of al fresco street dining is on tap for Patchogue’s Main Street.

The Greater Patchogue Village Chamber of Commerce announced the start of Dine ‘Til Nine Thursdays, an expansion of the Patchogue’s outdoor dining series called Sundays in the Street.

Since late June, the village has closed off a majority of Main Street on Sundays to allow restaurants to expand its outdoor dining sections from the sidewalk onto the pavement.

Now that outdoor eating scene has been extended to twice a week.

“On behalf of the Chamber, we are grateful the Village of Patchogue for allowing East and West Main Street to close this Thursday, Sept. 3 [now Sept 10; see update above] for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Dine Til Nine,” said David Kennedy, executive director of the Patchogue Village Chamber of Commerce.

Sundays in the Street hours have also been adjusted to 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Kennedy added if these events remain popular, they will happen through the fall.

the street closures

Main Street will be shut down to vehicle passage on East Main Street from Maple Avenue to Ocean Avenue, and on West Main Street from Ocean Avenue to West Avenue.

Ocean Avenue itself will always remain open for vehicles.
