Patchogue postpones its St. Patrick’s Day Parade

|

On the cusp of St. Patrick’s Day street celebrations being canceled across Long Island, Patchogue Village officials announced its parade, which was originally planned for Sunday, March 22, will be postponed.

The decision was made after Gov. Andrew Cuomo banned gatherings larger than 500 in New York state.

“Our concern is not the parade itself but the aftermath of putting 200-300 people in these restaurants and bars in town,” Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri told GreaterPatchogue.

The parade, run by the village’s Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Greater Patchogue Foundation, doesn’t have a new date yet.
