Patchogue woman wins $1M in New York Lottery’s ‘Million Dollar Raffle’

|

A Patchogue woman became a million bucks richer after a winning New York Lottery raffle ticket made her a top-prize winner.

Carrie Machinist of Patchogue claimed a $1 million prize from the New York Lottery’s “Million Dollar Raffle,” which was drawn Oct. 26. Her ticket was one of just 15 selected statewide to win the seven-figure cash prize as part of a promotional raffle marking the Erie Canal bicentennial.

Machinist chose to receive a one-time, lump-sum pay out, collecting $651,006 after required withholdings, lottery officials said.

The winning ticket was sold at the Conoco Quick Stop at 626 Route 112 in Patchogue. The store earned a $5,000 bonus for selling a top-prize ticket.

Lottery officials said at least one other million-dollar raffle ticket was sold in Suffolk County. Other $1 million raffle winners were sold across New York, including in the Bronx and Queens, and Westchester and Dutchess counties.
