The Patchogue Family YMCA has received a $10,000 donation from Folks Insurance Group in West Sayville that will go toward a capital fundraising campaign that aims to add more Pre-K classrooms and resurface the gym floor at the facility.
Folks Insurance Group originally received a $5,000 donation for Patchogue Family YMCA thanks to a submission process with Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® through their 2024 Make More Happen™ Awards.
But when a story of their local partnership was featured on the official Make More Happen microsite, Folks Insurance Group succeeded in raising an additional $5,000 by conducting a local awareness campaign for the nonprofit.
“We are honored and incredibly grateful for being awarded the 2024 Make More Happen Award so we can continue to help our community and give back even more to Patchogue Family YMCA,” said James Folks, Jr., president of Folks Insurance Group.
“Patchogue Family YMCA has had a significant impact in the Long Island-area and are thrilled to double the donation with community support,” he added.
The gift to the local YMCA, which has been in the community for 13 years, is part of a nationwide effort. Throughout 2024, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will pick as many as 37 independent agents across the country for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support.
Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
