Summer in Patchogue just got a whole lot more fun.
Members of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce’s Riverfront Committee told GreaterPatchogue.com they are bringing back the Alive on the River festival for five dates this summer.
Those days are July 6, July 20, Aug. 3, Aug. 17, and Aug. 31, all Wednesdays. There are no rain dates.
“We’re stoked because in comparison to what we did three years ago, what we’re doing this year is beyond,” said John Sarno, who is part of the Riverfront Committee and owner of riverside restaurant Drift 82.
The participating restaurants include The Oar Steak & Seafood, Off Key Tikki, Dublin Deck, Harbor Crab Co., and Drift 82. Each location will have its own live music starting at 5 p.m. There will also be drink specials, so make sure to ask for those.
A water taxi service will be running at each event, allowing attendees the ability to cruise over to the different waterfront restaurants.
It’s $5 for one-way rides, or $10 for unlimited service.
Zak Seghrouchni and Amanda Warren of Paddle Pub are also joining in on the event this year with two of their pedal-powered party boats, Sarno said.
On land, cart service Qwik Ride will be providing $5 rides to different restaurants. They will be stationed at their “hub” on the west side of the railroad station in Patchogue (Division St. and South Ocean Ave.) At that location there will be first-come-first-serve free parking.
“[Qwik Ride] will drive you to the destination of your choice, whether that’s a place on Main Street or down by the river,” Sarno said.
Qwik Ride is currently working on occupying the closed Bowl Long Island at Patchogue parking lot for an additional 75 parking spots, the Drift 82 owner mentioned.
Sarno added that the paddle boats and water taxis will be in service starting on May 5 for Cinco de Mayo festivities.
“We’re really excited to get rolling and back to normalcy,” Sarno said. “It’s gonna be an outpour of people looking to get back to having fun.”
