Patchogue’s Toast Coffeehouse mourns employee killed in car accident

|

Toast Coffeehouse in Patchogue is closed today to pay respect for one of their employees who tragically died last week in a car crash.

The company is remembering 21-year-old Demetrius Hall of Bellport, a food runner for the breakfast and lunch spot.

On July 8, Hall was traveling southbound on North Ocean Avenue in a 2003 Honda Accord when it veered into the northbound lane and collided with a 1995 Peterbilt truck at approximately 2:50 p.m., according to Suffolk County police.

“Son, grandson, nephew, friend, and employee of Toast Coffeehouse,” the restaurant said in an Instagram post. “We are asking for your love and support for Demetrius Hall and his family during this tragic time.”

Stacia Brown organized a GoFundMe and over the past week to help pay for Hall’s funeral and other expenses, and the community came together to raise over $18,000.

This week, Precision Detailing helped as well with a car wash fundraiser for Hall’s grief-stricken family.
