People’s Pub to unveil ‘Pub Garden’ Memorial Day weekend in Bayport

|

In the three months since opening in Bayport, the folks at the new People’s Pub have been quietly curating the property’s outdoors in anticipation of the warmer months.

And this Memorial Day weekend, owners Linda Ringhouse and Peter Cotter are getting set to unveil what they’re calling the Pub Garden, replete with shaded pergola, a custom-built outdoor bar, fire pit area and plenty of benches and wine barrel seating for groups and couples alike.

The plan is to offer a cozy, outdoor experience under the string lights at night, and a private space to enjoy the sun and breeze while sipping on rosé all day. That, or choose from Cotter’s hand-selected array of craft beers at the timber bar, affectionally referred to as “the love shack.”

Perhaps a little reggae music will be in the air as well.

“And when the sun is setting out here it’s just so gorgeous,” said Cotter, also the co-founder of Blue Point Brewing Co.

Of course, Greater Long Island got a sneak-peek walking tour this week.

“The inside is so beautiful so we wanted to create this equally beautiful and funky, outdoor space,” said Ringhouse, who ran Grey Horse Tavern at the same historic property for 11 years.

To transform the outdoors, the owners and their crews leveled out the grounds, poured the pebbles and added more privacy and seating. From there, “they just started decorating,” Ringhouse said.

Dogs will also be welcome to the new outdoor area.

“We want to bring the pups back,” Cotter said.

And the People.
