Photo tour: Roto returns to downtown Bay Shore at Shoregate

Roto is officially back in Bay Shore.

Over the weekend, the popular sandwich and provisions spot held a soft opening at its brand-new location inside the Shoregate complex, nearly two years after closing its original Main Street storefront.

The new space — now simply called Roto — is located at the corner of 4th Avenue and Mechanicsville Road. It’s part of the sprawling 418-unit Shoregate development just north of downtown.

The café quietly opened its doors to early customers, offering a sneak peek at its rotating menu of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, seasonal bites, and house-made specialties — all crafted with locally sourced ingredients.

The official opening is set for Wednesday, July 16.

“We are thrilled to bring Roto to Shoregate and continue our journey of providing exceptional culinary experiences to our community,” said Brock Ferraro, one of the Roto co-owners. “The new location allows us to expand our offerings and cater to a broader audience.”

Roto first debuted in December 2022, quickly earning a loyal following for its elevated takes on classics and Charleston café-inspired charm. But the team outgrew its original location on Main Street and closed in 2023 prepare for the Shoregate move.

The all-new 1,650-square-foot café features counter seating, open shelving, and a clean, curated interior that reflects Roto’s artisanal vibe. It’s also equipped to handle increased foot traffic from the Shoregate complex and summer crowds.
