Patchogue Village’s first annual Free Walk-Through Zoo event was a hit over the weekend.
Families headed to Patchogue Recreation Center to see a variety of furry animals, participate in crafts and enjoy local vendors.
The day, which was run by the village’s parks and recreation department in conjunction with Steppin’ Out Ponies, happened Saturday morning.
“So many families came to see the animals,” said Maria Giustizia-Hilton, director of the parks and recreation department.
Some of the animals in attendance included goats, sheeps, chickens, bunnies, cows, and ducks.
“Everyone was socially distanced,” said Giustizia-Hilton. “Everyone thanked us for having such a wonderful event for the kids, they said, “It gave their kids some type of normalcy.'”
