Less than five months after opening, Cobs Bread in the Plainview Shopping Center has closed its doors.
The South Oyster Bay Road bakery’s final day was Friday, Sept. 12. By the weekend, shoppers found the windows covered in brown paper.
“I can’t believe it,” said one customer. “Every time I went there to get a scone or a croissant, there were always a lot of other people inside.”
On social media, the company called the closure “bittersweet,” adding that they are “forever grateful for the memories.”
An employee at another Nassau County location told Greater Long Island they weren’t given a reason for the sudden shutdown. Plans for a new Carle Place bakery, originally slated to open in June, have also been put on hold.
The Merrick and Oceanside shops remain open.
Cobs Bread, known for its handcrafted breads, scones, and pastries, operates more than 700 locations worldwide.
