The Brookhaven Town Planning Board approved a proposal to build 14 townhomes in Manorville following a public hearing Tuesday.
The board approved Heatherwood Luxury Rentals’ preliminary subdivision application of the development, called West Hills Town Homes at Manorville, which will be built in seven buildings on about 5 acres adjoining Heatherwoods’ current Pine Hills Golf and Country Club development.
Heatherwoods agreed to dedicate 32 acres to Brookhaven as open space at the planning department’s recommendation. The space had been marked as future conservation easement areas.
The developer must also allot two Pine Hills units as workforce housing and another unit as affordable housing as defined by town code.
Jennifer Appel, Heatherwoods’ attorney, said the company will update the renderings and plans and send it back to the town for approval.
She said the planned West Hills Town Homes at Manorville site has been a long-undeveloped part of the Pine Hills complex.
Now it moved a step further to expanding.
And, she added, “The Town of Brookhaven is going to get 32 acres of open space.”
