Police identify body found in suitcase in Huntington as 31-year-old woman

|

The human remains found in a suitcase outside a Huntington apartment building this week have been identified as a 31-year-old Huntington Station woman, police said on Thursday.

Seikeya Jones’ body was discovered stuffed in a suitcase in a wooded area just outside an apartment building at 320 Nassau Road on Tuesday.

Police found her remains after receiving a 911 call reporting suspicious activity in the area. It was a local resident who made the emergency call after coming across the suitcase.

Police said that Jones was “undomiciled,” or homeless, at the time of her death. In a missing persons report earlier this week, authorities said that Jones did not return to her home on Fifth Avenue in Huntington Station on Aug. 16, and was missing since that date.

Missing since Aug. 16

Suffolk Police posted the information below on Facebook on Monday.

Jones had gone missing before. In 2022, she was found safe by police in July, four months after being reported missing. At the time, authorities described her a “a vulnerable adult.”

Cops said what caused Jones’ death is still being investigated by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Her death remains an ongoing investigation, and police have asked anyone with information to contact the Homicide Squad at 631.852.6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.220.TIPS.
