Police: Setauket teen finds razor blade in Halloween candy bar

|

An East Setauket middle school student earlier tonight found a blade embedded in a 3 Musketeers chocolate bar that had been given out during trick-or-treating on Halloween, police said.

The student, a 13-year-old girl, had traded Halloween candy with her classmates at Paul J. Gelinas Junior High School over the past few days. After the teen discovered the blade inside the candy bar this evening, her mother notified police about 7:35 p.m.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct officers are heading up the investigation into the incident. Police are asking residents to make sure adults are present when children open candy they received on Halloween, particularly in Stony Brook and Setauket.

Police said that anyone with information related to the incident should call the Sixth Precinct Crime Section at 631.854.8626 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1.800.220.TIPS.
