Two men allegedly racing each other on the Long Island Expressway were charged with multiple traffic violations Friday night, Suffolk Police said.

Both cars were impounded as well.

Randy Lopez, 20, of Middle Island, who was driving a 2020 Infiniti Q50, and Evan Hacker, 20, of East Patchogue, who was driving a 2016 Audi S3, were stopped by police around 9:45 p.m. near Exit 68 in Shirley, authorities said.

This was after the cars were observed “racing each other at speeds of 109 mph with the headlights off,” according to members of the Suffolk County Police Street Takeover Task Force.

Both men were cited for Illegal Speed Contest, Reckless Driving, and multiple misdemeanor violations and other traffic infractions, official said.

They will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Feb. 27.
