Port Jeff H.S. has first-ever male athlete commit to play Divison I lacrosse

|

This Port Jefferson lacrosse star has made history for his hometown.

Earl L. Vandermeulen High School junior Aidan Kaminska announced he committed to play at Stony Brook University in 2020, becoming the school’s first athlete to commit to Divison I men’s lacrosse.

“Aidan has been a special player for our program for many years,” said head coach Taylor Forstell.

Aiden, who plays midfield and attack, scored 28 goals with 14 assists in his sophomore year on varsity, according to MaxPreps. He also serves as a face-off specialist, winning 23-of-36 faceoffs last season.

His success stems from countless hours of training and working out, says Forstell.

“He is visible all off-season putting in the extra time to improve his game,” he said. “Morning workouts, late-night training sessions and countless weekends at tournaments and prospect camps, he has earned his position at Stony Brook and we are proud of him representing Port Jefferson at such a high level of lacrosse.”
