Port Jeff hair salon owner to be part of first-ever Hamptons Fashion Week

|

Kristine Murillo is a veteran when it comes to running fashion shows.

The Port Jeff hair salon owner has worked on 14 shows during New York Fashion Week over the last 5 years, as well as several popular pageants, including Miss New York.

Because of her impressive resume, she was selected to help run the first-ever Hamptons Fashion Week runway show, planned for Sunday, July 21.

“I am very excited to be a part of this event; it is bringing some of the top designers in the industry to Long Island,” said Murillo, who owns Fedora Lounge Boutique Hair Salon and Hair Replacement Studio at 1303 Main Street.

Hamptons Fashion Week, which runs from noon to 7 p.m, is a one-day experiential event filled food and drink tastings, nail bar, photo booths, as well as the opportunity to engage with renown and local designers, stylists and makeup artists. It is located at 2368 Montauk Hwy. in Bridgehampton.

“This special day is a unique, fun and all-encompassing opportunity to share with residents and visitors, and to enjoy local fashion and beauty brands found right here in East End” said Dee Rivera, the event’s producer. “In addition, local fashion-designer participants will get a chance to display new looks and trends.”

Murillo, who lives in Babylon Village, will be in charge of styling the models for the runway performance. She’s looking forward to the fast-moving environment.

“It is high paced, you have to get the models in and out,” said the longtime stylist, “but you get to be creative, and it’s going be an awesome atmosphere.”

According to the event organizers, a portion of the day’s proceeds will benefit the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, a nonprofit that helps provide breast cancer patients with state-of-the-art health care.
