Two Port Jefferson students are working to bring October’s Paint Port Pink campaign for breast cancer awareness within the walls of the middle school.
And with that, get their fellow students to participate in area-wide activities.
John T. Mather Memorial Hospital’s month-long campaign is taking place across the Greater Port Jeff area all October, and it involves a slew of special events along with fundraiser deals at local businesses.
At the middle school, Monica Consalvo, a teacher, along with seventh-graders Ellery Tafuro and Tamara Scully, created a poster that hangs in a hallway, according to the district.
The poster highlights ways that other students and staffers can become involved in the community activities. Those that do will each write their name on a pink ribbon sticker and all the stickers will be colorfully displayed within a larger ribbon outline.
