If you can’t get enough live music then mark Thursday, May 16, on your calendar.
Head down to Port Jefferson that evening for a collection of happy hours all featuring live music — along with drink and food specials.
The village-wide party runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at 17 participating restaurants.
It’s not just downtown that is in on the action. Upper Port seafood restaurant PJ Lobster House is also involved. Scroll down for the full list of participating restaurants.
The venues will be offering food and drink specials during the happy hour, including discounts on wine bottles and $3 draft beers. Even ice cream shops will be in on the action offering half-priced ice cream drinks.
The Happy Hour is being sponsored by the Port Pro Port Jefferson Association with support from the Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.
Other events that the Pro Port Jefferson Association have hosted include the Spring Breakfast Crawl and the Historic Restaurant Scavenger Crawl.
Barbara Ransome, the chamber’s director of operations, said if successful, this might become a regular Thursday night event to attract crowds to the village. The live music will range from jazz, to steel drums, to acoustic guitars, to rock cover bands.
“It evolved by trying to create an event during an off-weeknight,” Ransome said, and “music is a genre everyone can appreciate.”
Funds raised from the crawls subsidize the live performers, Ransome said. Each venue will be reimbursed by the committee to offset the cost of booking the acts.
