Kristine Murillo, the owner of Fedora Boutique Salon in Port Jefferson Village, is expanding her brand in a big way.
She’s launched a new education program called F.A.B. — Fedora Artistic Beauty Systems — aimed at stylists of all levels looking to grow their skills in the beauty industry. Click here to learn more.
The idea came to life with her longtime co-worker and close friend Nina Emanuele, a Paul Mitchell educator. Murillo herself is an extensions educator, cosmetology instructor, editorial stylist, and salon owner.
“We have everything from basic styling, behind-the-chair tips, extension methods, how to get involved in magazine and television, makeup, and more,” said Murillo. “The classes are instructed by reputable stylists and artists in the industry and we share all of our tips, tricks and secrets we’ve learned over the years.”
Each class runs about three hours and includes a swag bag with tools for participants. Sessions will be held at the Fedora salon, with plans to move into larger spaces when needed.
Meanwhile, the salon itself is undergoing a transformation. A new logo and signage and the space is being revamped with a more modern look and minimal in-house retail. Guests can now choose to be models for apprentices at a discounted rate, or book services with seasoned stylists.
Murillo is also continuing her collaboration with longtime friend and co-worker Dana D’Andraia on Fashion and Fedora, a clothing boutique based inside the salon and available online. See what they have available here.
“It’s kind of cool because we all started working together close to 20 years ago and we always come together to think of something new and exciting,” she said.
And the momentum doesn’t stop there. Murillo released an industry book titled “Hair, Heart, Hustle,” co-written with author Dennis Vannasse.
