Port Jeff schools seek community input on the next superintendent

|

The Port Jefferson school board has begun its search for a new superintendent, and the trustees are asking for the public’s help in finding her or him.

Below are links to an online survey, through which the board “is collecting information on community input on the qualifications, instructional leadership and community engagement it expects from the next leader to continue in the upward trajectory of academic excellence,” according to a district announcement.

Available in both English and Spanish, the online survey is open until Dec. 21:

Aside from the online surveys, Dr. Julie Davis Lutz, the CEO at Eastern Suffolk BOCES, will meet with interested community members on Jan. 3 “to further provide residents an opportunity to discuss skills and characteristics that the new superintendent of schools should possess, and the short-term and long-term issues that he or she will need to address,” according to the announcement.

That meeting is open to the public and will be held at Earl L. Vandermeulen High School, at 7 p.m. The high school address is 350 Old Post Road in Port Jefferson.

Paper copies of the online surveys are also available at the district office, which is located at 550 Scraggy Hill Road in Port Jefferson, NY 11777.
