Keeping the momentum after a successful inaugural Pet Adoption Fair last year, the Port Jefferson Free Library will be at it again this Sept. 22.
The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Port Jefferson Free Library, brings in animals that are in need of a new home. The cats and dogs come from different local pet rescues.

“Last year we had over 300 people attend,” said marketing and outreach librarian Salvatore Filosa. “We had nearly [a dozen] animals adopted.”
The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that Saturday.
Even if you’re not in the search of a new pet, Filosa says there are still plenty of reasons to stop by 100 Thompson Street.
“There will be a story time for the kids,” and other activities, he said. “And you can come down and support your local [nonprofits].”
