$1 million Powerball ticket sold at Port Jefferson grocery

|

New York Lottery officials announced Tuesday that a Port Jefferson grocery store sold the only second-prize winning ticket in New York for Monday’s Powerball drawing.

The $1 million ticket was purchased at Village Grocery, 328 Main St. in Port Jefferson. No one matched all six numbers to claim the jackpot, which continues to grow ahead of the next drawing.

To win the second prize in Powerball, a player must match all five white-ball numbers but not the red Power Ball.

Powerball players select five white balls numbered 1 through 69 and one red Power Ball numbered 1 through 26. Drawings take place live every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

Third-prize winner in Kings Park

Additionally, one third-prize Powerball ticket was sold on Long Island for Monday’s drawing. The ticket, worth $50,000, was purchased at the 7-located at 655 Route 25A in Kings Park.

To win a third prize, a player must match four of the five white-ball numbers plus the red Power Ball.
