Port Jefferson’s Charles Dickens Festival seeks characters for 2018

|

This is your chance to finally be a part of Port Jefferson’s wildly popular Charles Dickens Festival.

For the uninitiated, each year the village turns the clocks back to the Victorian era with characters filling the streets with performances. For this year’s 23rd annual festival — which takes place on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 — the event organizers are now casting “Street Characters.”

All ages are needed for scripted and improv scenes.

“You have the option of joining us for a portion of the festival weekend or for the long haul for the rehearsals and scenes,” said Michael J. Freed of the Port Jefferson Charles Dickens Festival.

No experience is needed for the volunteer positions. To learn more, there are two informational meetings scheduled for Aug. 16 and Aug. 23, both from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Skipjack room downstairs at The Port Jefferson Village Center. You only need to attend one meeting to participate.
