Port Jeff’s Fedora Lounge Hair Salon moves into larger space on Main Street

|

Fedora Lounge Boutique Hair Salon is back with a much larger location in Port Jefferson Village.

Owner Kristine Murillo moved her salon from the shopping center that houses Hour Escape near Upper Port to 404 Main Street. It’s the old Captain’s Lady salon next to Theatre Three.

“It’s 2.5 times bigger than our first location,” said Murillo.

The longtime stylist — whose work has been featured in magazines, television, and fashion weeks — opened in the new salon on June 10, the first day of Phase 2 in the state’s reopening plan from the coronavirus pandemic.

“We were so excited to open up and have people see the new space,” said Murillo, who completely renovated the building.

After years of working in the area as a cosmetologist, Murillo saw her dream realized when she opened her own spot Fedora Lounge in 2016. There she’s been specializing in all types of hair services.

Now, with the new, larger Fedora Lounge she is adding eyelash and nail services, makeup, teeth whitening, waxing, and reflexology.

Most of the new staff are beauty professionals that Murillo has worked with or collaborated with in the industry beforehand.

“It’s like bringing the family back together,” said Murillo of her expanded Fedora Lounge team.

These personal care services will be allowed once Phase 3 begins on Long Island, which is expected to happen on Wednesday.
