Port Jefferson’s 2015 Suffolk Division II wrestling champion Vince Miceli has gotten off to a great start to this year’s campaign.

After placing first in the 47th Annual Huntington Holiday Tournament on Dec. 2, he was also named the “Most Outstanding Wrestler” at the event.

“Vince is a leader for our wrestling team and we are lucky to have him,” said Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s varsity wrestling head coach, Michael Maletta. “The coaching staff is excited to be in his corner this year and look forward to watching him compete at Bloomsburg.”

Vince, a four-time All-County wrestler with over 100 wins, has successful takedowns and pinning techniques running in his blood.

Like his older brother, Nick, who wrestled in college, Miceli has committed to compete at the Division I level at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania,

Miceli and his Royals teammates will look to continue the momentum heading into the regular season when they take on Mattituck on Thursday, Dec. 21.
